A LIT-tle touch of paradise in the heart of Bangkok
By Michelle White

Quirky and tranquil with exceptional service are just a few ways to describe the newly opened LIT Hotel in Bangkok, a 79 room character hotel superbly located a few minutes walk from Siam Square, MBK shopping centres and Bangkok city’s skytrain (BTS).
The hotel has a smoke free policy and offers a many personal touches from the ‘serve yourself’ coffee machine & fruit basket in the lobby to the pack of 3 condoms next to the Hershey’s kisses in the mini bar. (more elegantly listed as ‘gentleman’s amenity’ on the list).
Guest rooms are unique in design and although some rooms have limited vanity space for toiletries, the room amenities are classy.  There is a lovely planted bath area, a separate shower containing one hand held shower and an overhead a rain shower, flat screen TV, free internet connection, DVD player, ipod dock & coffee/tea making facilities to name a few. (I stayed in a Different Degree room)

Each category of room has its own focus on lighting. Some have blue night lighting which is believed to induce relaxation, some with lighting over the shower or bath. You can choose red, blue, or yellow depending on your need to be invigorated, relaxed or refreshed. All lighting can be adjusted or turned off and is a fun aspect of the rooms.  The hotel also holds a guest ceremony of lighting candles with free champagne in the lobby every evening at 6pm.
The hotel's Kiriya Spa is indulgent and elegant.  I sampled the 7 Grain Scrub followed by Honey and Ripe Papaya Wrap (approx 2hrs) and was so impressed with the entire experience, I immediately booked a calming massage and pedicure for the following day.  Even the disposable undies are a comfortable and fashionable boyleg style - a nice change to the strange, puffy ones usually on offer !  Each treatment commences with a foot cleansing ritual which has tension exiting your body in a rush and is a charming start to the entire pampering journey.  Overall one of my most enjoyable spa experiences ever.

There are many more delightful aspects about this hotel and it’s staff, but I won’t give away all their secrets and instead urge you to visit and discover them for yourself !
