Queenstown – Something for Everyone
By Therese Bruning
12 September 2011

I couldn’t wait to get to Queenstown after having heard so much about it over the years – it is one of the "must see" places in New Zealand’s South Island.

Whether it is bungy jumping or the Shotover jet speedboat for the adrenaline junkies, or wine tours, fantastic restaurants & lake tours for those of us who like to take things a little quieter (more my style), there is something for everyone. Personally, I couldn’t get enough of the breathtaking scenery & historical buildings.

Our apartment accommodation at Breakfree The Waterfront was ideally located opposite the lakefront with the buzz of restaurants & bars at our doorstep & an ideal spot where we could watch the TSS Earnslaw Vintage Steamship make it’s way up & down Lake Wakatipu.

Like Arrowtown, Queenstown is a myriad of colours in Autumn & a lovely way to experience this beauty is with a cruise around Lake Wakatipu. We chose one of the smaller cruise companies to avoid the crowds of tourists.  Million Dollar Cruises  have a one & a half hour cruise for only NZD25.00 & offer a laid back (how many companies would offer an "honesty bar" on board)  but still totally professional experience. The cruises are easy to book down at the jetty.

For more of what Queenstown & the surrounding areas have to offer, visit their info site here.
