Enjoy A Birds-eye View

I wasn’t sure what to expect at the Skyline complex in Queenstown, as sometimes these types of attractions don’t live up to the hype. Well, we certainly weren’t disappointed & thoroughly enjoyed our few hours perched high above the city, taking in the spectacular views from a selection of observation decks.

Skyline is only about a 5 minute walk from the centre of town. For someone who isn’t too fond of heights, I actually enjoyed the gondola ride up to the summit. I've been on scenic view gondolas before & have spent half the time with my eyes closed, convinced that every little shake was the beginning of the end & that holding on the the person next to me was somehow going to save me should something terrible happen. This one was smooth & quick & the view down wasn't quite so scary, so for all you acrophobics out there, give it a go. As well as the superb outlook, there is a restaurant, café, luge, walking tracks, bungy jump, Kiwi Haka Show & souvenir shop.

The Gondola ride itself is NZD25.00 per person. The best way to get value for money is to buy one of the packages which are listed on their website. For NZD49.00 pp we enjoyed the Gondola ride & a delicious buffet lunch at the Skyline Restaurant, which turned out to be excellent value.

Make sure to include the Skyline on your list of "must dos" in Queenstown.
